Customized Psychotherapy
Step Into Your Clearing
When you are riding the carousel of relentless daily pressures, chronic anxiety or mood-related symptoms, recovering from traumatic experiences or shifting life circumstances— it can feel as though your foot is slammed onto the gas pedal while life has simultaneously slammed on the brakes.
Psychotherapy at The Awareness Practice™ is an invitation to step off the carousel and into a safe, confidential and unhurried supportive space. Our work together will not be an authoritative, advice-giving enterprise; rather, it is an active, collaborative, and personalized exploration, drawing upon relevant resources for you from the evidence base. Together, we roll up our sleeves to look at the raw canvas of your concerns and experiences, helping you move toward recognizing your own genuine potential, building greater flexibility, and your self-determined goals for enhancing your own well-being.
A General Practice including specialized care for High Functioning Executives, Professionals, Academics, College Students and Your Families… Across the Life Cycle
Clinical needs rarely exist in a vacuum, and understanding the whole picture of your life requires a generalist’s wisdom combined with targeted areas of expertise. I work with clients across the entire life cycle—including children, tweens, adolescents, adults, and elders—offering individual, couple, family, and specialized group sessions. These are tailored to your unique constellation of presenting concerns.
Our collaborative clinical focus may encompass working toward:

Anxiety & Stress Mastery
Navigating Adjustment Disorders, Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Panic, Phobias, and mild Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Mood Regulation
Navigating Adjustment Disorders and mild to occasionally moderate Mood Disorders
Workplace and Scholastic Vitality
Actively addressing the modern ‘epidemics’ of Burnout, Compassion Fatigue, and acute Executive or Academic Stress, as well as attentional concerns like ADHD, and the functional impact of other mild neurodivergence, when these factors contribute to disorders meeting medical necessity criteria.
Life Transitions & Adjustments
Processing acute life changes, existential or spiritual crises, identity unfoldment, and cultural or environment shock.
Trauma Recovery
Gently untangling the historical knots of past, non-active traumas to reclaim your present-day well-being.
Grief, Loss, & Compassionate Support
Holding space for profound life losses and transitions, supportive psychotherapy for acute or chronic health distress, and specialized, validating support for disenfranchised grief, including pet loss—when these situations stir conditions requiring treatment.
Individual, family, couples, and group options are available.

Navigating Health Insurance
As a solo private practitioner, I choose to participate directly with several insurance networks to keep care accessible. I am currently an In-Network Provider for major plans in the state of New Jersey, including but not limited to:
- Blue Cross Blue Shield-related plans (including Horizon and Anthem)
- Aetna-related plans including Princeton University’s Student Health Plan
- Optum / United HealthCare / Oxford-related plans
- Carelon / Beacon Health Options / Value Options / GHI-related plans
- Cigna and Evernorth-related plans.
For all plans, clients are responsible for confirming my specific participation, your specific coverage, deductibles, and co-pays prior to our first session. Sometimes, even if I am in-network, limitations to your plan, especially if it is an HMO, may limit my participation. So, coverages and my participation in given panels can vary. Some panels may list me by my individual name Cynthia E. Leach, MSW, LCSW, LMFT (please be sure to share my locations when you have them search); and others may list me as The Awareness Practice LLC.
Please Note: I have formally opted out of Medicare and Medicaid, and am not in-network with Magellan or TriCare and some other plans not listed here.
Costs of Care: In and Out-of-Network
Transparent boundaries form the bedrock of a safe clinical container. For clients who are not utilizing in-network insurance benefits, standard professional fees are structured as follows:
- Initial Evaluation: $200
- Individual Session (~53–60 minutes): $175
- Individual Session (~45–50 minutes): $150
- Family or Couple Session: $175
- Specialized Group Session: $125
I encourage prospective clients who learn that my services are out-of network for you, to find an in-network provider, if you wish greater efficiency, as I only rarely see clients for psychotherapy services out-of-network, and will offer you resources and referrals.
Determining my network status with your plan is your responsibility prior to commencing our work together.
In the unusual situation that we commence out-of-network work, I offer a good faith estimate to all out-of-network psychotherapy clients before we begin as well, and my professional billing service also would submit the bill for you to your insurance company as a courtesy.
All psychotherapy clients may also use your Health Service Account for psychotherapy services, as this type of session counts as a health service.
Please note: A limited number of discounted, private-pay adjustments are reserved for individuals experiencing genuine financial hardship.
