The Triskelle of Services: Landing & Integration

A Refuge for Your Flow: Three Spheres, One Integrative Whole

Once you have landed here at The Awareness Practice™, your journey toward personal evolution, alignment, and momentum can begin. This process of finding your flow and direction can be held within one of three distinct, specialized dimensions of practice.

Governed by the ancient architecture of the Triskelle, these distinct Spheres honor the unique complexity of your life, meeting you precisely where you are—whether you are seeking to soothe deep clinical distress, navigate systemic professional pressures, or embark on an expansive internal, relational or career-oriented quest.

Our clearing is specifically curated for high-performing executives, professionals, academics and high-achieving college students—as well as the families who support them. While the world demands relentless performance, The Awareness Practice™ focuses on helping you to manage the complexities that arise while you navigate your high-demand life. Together, we work to better understand and decompress from everyday pressures, so you can work toward catching your breath, regaining your ‘steam,’ and pacing yourself for your life’s marathon. We shall work together to restore the fuel for your continuing journey… the triskelion legs of play for your body, laughter for your mind, and joy for your ‘heart’.

"The body heals with play, the mind heals with laughter, and the spirit heals with joy."

The Preliminary Evaluation: Ensuring the Fit.

Together, we evaluate which sphere best serves your immediate needs and long-term vitality and goals.

The initial phase of our work together (approximately 3–6 sessions) is treated as a mutual, preliminary evaluation process. We make many decisions together beginning with whether you would like psychotherapy, EAP work or coaching services. Together, we assess if your situation baseline falls within the scope of The Awareness Practice™. This process ensures a "fit" and also affords us the time to build a working alliance together with a foundation of trust. As the culmination of this process, we co-create your custom ‘roadmap’—as a deep dialogic understanding we keep refining as we go along rather than a cookie-cutter document.

It’s also important for you to feel comfortable here, and I will understand if you are in a shopping process in the beginning of our work together. There may also be other programs and services that we determine would be more resonant with your needs and what you are seeking, so this gives us an opportunity to build a bridge to these if needed.

Should we both choose to proceed further after our introductory period, I feel confident that initial alignment we build together in this phase can serve as the steady bridge necessary for us to step securely into the deeper work ahead.

General Information Encompassing All Spheres.

Your Privacy Matters.

Here, at The Awareness Practice™, I take your privacy and confidentiality seriously. Therapy, coaching and EAP work all happen in an atmosphere of trust, and The Awareness Practice™ maintains this ethically and as required by law. As a mandated reporter, I am required to address a variety of situations in which safety impacts confidentiality, particularly when dangerousness becomes a concern. Should you engage in psychotherapy, EAP work, or coaching with me—we discuss the privacy parameters and their limits and establish informed consent, prior to engaging in our work together.

My Welcome Guide.

All clients of The Awareness Practice™ receive a comprehensive Welcome Guide that outline my policies and procedures and that establishes mutual expectations and an atmosphere of informed consent before our official work together begins. This guide is reviewed annually each year and matters of policy are addressed, as needed, over the course of our work together.

The Architecture of Resolution: The Arc of our Work.

Since all aspects of life have beginnings, middles and endings, so too do psychotherapy, EAP work and coaching. Each of these services has a natural treatment arc that we co-create consistent with your goals.

The Three Tempos: The Awareness Practice™ offers short, medium, and long-term work together contingent upon your needs, preferences, and what is fitting for your unique circumstances. We are designing this structure of our work together, so this consideration is an important facet.

The Open, On-going Dialogue: Considering where we are together on the journey, where we are going and how long we are planning to travel together is a welcome, on-going discussion between us. So, it’s a constructive and a necessary part of this type of work to bring up issues of pacing, your preferred length of participation, and any other important facets of our experiences and journey together, as needed.

Most of us also have a history with beginnings, middles and endings that impact the way we relate to these aspects of life. Beginnings, middles, and endings can feel uncomfortable at times and have different meanings for each one of us as we move through our lives. When facing these experiences together in solidarity and with awareness—psychotherapy, EAP work and coaching can be spheres that help you to contain reactivity and find a better way through these life passages—with the potential, in turn, to benefit many other aspects of your life as you become more conscious and at peace with these phases of experience.

The Full Circle: When we are ready to complete our work together in a given episode of care, the Graduation Session is the preferred healthy and affirmative way to conclude the process, bringing it full circle.  It gives us a rare, structured space to look back at the ground you’ve covered and what you have learned and accomplished. We can affirm the ‘heavy lifting’ you’ve done with me in this space, and gives us the opportunity to identify learning opportunities in your next post-graduation phase, as well as for me to offer referrals and resources that can help you with your continuing life journey, if needed.

The aim of graduation is for you to step forward into their next chapter with an integrated sense of completion.

When my clients are doing more short-term work, as is always the case for the EAP model—I find they often want to return in future episodes of care, when new issues are stirred. A graduation session from a particular care episode can also give comfort and clarity about how this can happen for you as a bridge to future work together and/or help you connect to other resources.

I consider the relational tapestry we weave together in our work to be important, and I am deeply honored to work with the clients whom I serve. Although this work takes place within an appropriate, professional and boundaried relationship, the therapeutic or coaching dyad—it is a Real Relationship, nonetheless. In the spirit of Donald Winnicott, we can aim in all our important bonds for what he calls ‘Object Constancy,’ an abiding internally felt sense of the meaningful connections to others even when we are no longer immediately present with one another.

When we carry within us the space for this internally felt sense of our shared journey and abiding connection to it, this in turn has the ability to help us feel more secure as we move forward on our own terms into new terrains toward new horizons of experience.

"It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end."
~Ursula K. Le Guin
